Answer questions
Why install an air conditioner?
Protection against heat, cleaner breathing air, filters against viruses and bacteria - there are many arguments in favor of buying an air conditioner for your home.
In addition to temperature regulation, the devices can also exchange the room air so that it is sufficiently clean and fresh.
Is an air conditioner environmentally friendly?
Air conditioning systems work with refrigerants. The term refrigerant is the general term for gas mixtures used in devices that transfer thermal energy from the surrounding air to another medium such as air or water. Such devices are, for example, refrigerators, air conditioning systems in cars or heating heat pumps.
These substances contribute to the greenhouse effect when released into the atmosphere. For this reason, the use and marketing of refrigerants are strictly monitored and regulated. The sale, installation, commissioning and maintenance of an air conditioning system may only be carried out by appropriately certified specialist companies and their trained employees. If refrigerant escapes due to improper handling or damage, no general information can be given on the impact on the environment. For better orientation, we give a mathematical example here:
A typical split air conditioning system for a single room with indoor and outdoor units contains around 800 grams of refrigerant R32. If 5% of this escapes due to improper handling or damage, this corresponds to 40 grams of refrigerant. The global warming potential of this amount is comparable to the CO2 emissions of a car driving 225 kilometers.
Air conditioning in the bedroom ?
Especially in summer it is often too warm in the bedroom. This is why many people sleep poorly. It's unhealthy and annoying. There is a simple solution: cool your bedroom with an air conditioner. A good room climate helps you to get a restful sleep and to get up rested in the morning.
You can't hear modern air conditioners. This is important in the bedroom. You just enjoy the fresh, clean and cool air. Let the experts advise you.
How much does an air conditioner cost?
As is so often the case, there is no general answer to the question of costs, but depends on many influencing factors such as size and number of rooms to be cooled, choice of product, distances, installation situation, etc.
In general, however, it can be said that a permanently installed air conditioning system no longer costs nearly as much as it did a few years ago. Air conditioning is no longer a luxury item.
Make an appointment with us. We come by, discuss your very personal situation and your needs and make you a transparent offer without obligation.
Example:
A single split system with 3.5kW cooling capacity for a room of approx. 40-50m2 including "normal" installation work* costs between CHF 2800 and CHF 3400 depending on the version of the device.
The power requirement on a hot day for this system is around 2.5-3.5 kWh
This results in electricity costs of approx. CHF 0.75/day
Assuming that the system is used for 3 months for cooling and 2 months for heating in the transitional period, the annual electricity costs are around CHF 100 to CHF 120.
For hygienic and technical reasons, an annual check including filter change is also worthwhile. The cost of an annual maintenance subscription is around CHF 160 to 160, depending on the driving distance CHF 250.-
*Good accessibility, work at a maximum height of 2.5m, cable length indoor/outdoor device 6m, travel time max. 1h/60km
You see, with an investment of approx. CHF 3000.- and recurring costs of less than one franc per day, you will soon be the proud owner of a modern air conditioning system and can look forward to the hot summer days in a relaxed manner.
Can I do something myself?
Yes, to a certain extent you can and may carry out certain work yourself.
E.g. creating the wall openings (core drilling), installing the cable ducts, laying the cables, installing the wall brackets, etc.
All work on the refrigeration circuit (e.g. connections of the refrigeration lines, pressure and leak test, vacuuming, filling with refrigerant, commissioning) must be carried out by a certified specialist.
In addition, the electrical connections must be carried out by a certified electrician.

What is the noise level of an air conditioner?
With a sound pressure level of only 19 decibels one meter away from the unit, Mitsubishi Electric offers one of the quietest air conditioners on the market. Your ears perceive this level of noise even quieter than the sound of leaves rustling in the wind. The devices are therefore almost noiseless and ideal for cooling your bedroom, for example. It's great to sleep with the window closed. Disturbing ambient noise can remain outside. The outdoor units have vibration-dampened compressors and particularly quiet-running fans. In this way, the neighbors are not disturbed by the operation of the device. With some devices, the noise level can also be reduced by a further 3dB(A) in night mode.
How much electricity does an air conditioner use?
Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners are designed to work in an energy-saving manner. The main contributor to this is the energy-efficient inverter technology of the outdoor units, which continuously adapts to the actual cooling or heating requirement. The devices thus achieve energy efficiency classes up to A+++.
The exact costs for the operation of your system then depend individually on the nature of your rooms and your usage requirements. In contrast to other household appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners for domestic use are only used seasonally and not permanently. In this way, you always have control over the power consumption of your air conditioner by setting the target temperature and the duration of use. If available, it is also possible to connect the system to the in-house photovoltaic system.
Can an air conditioner create draughts?
The air conditioners from Mitsubishi Electric have different functions against draughts. They have flexibly adjustable slats for air flow that can be controlled both horizontally and vertically.
If desired, they can even generate an almost horizontal flow of air that first runs along the ceiling and then gradually lowers. The so-called 3D i-see sensor recognizes the number and position of people in the room and directs the air flow away from them.
Can you catch a cold from an air conditioner?
No. Proper maintenance and adjustment of your air conditioner is important.
Regular filter cleaning:
The air conditioners from Mitsubishi Electric are equipped with different filters through which the room air flows during air conditioning. Depending on the filter type, negative environmental factors such as dust, pollen, bacteria, viruses or dirt can be filtered out. Just like a vacuum cleaner or an extractor hood, these filters must be cleaned at regular intervals so that the cleaning of the room air can function properly. If this is the case, an air conditioner improves the quality of the room air rather than worsens it.
Correct setting of the room temperature:
It is just as important not to set the desired room temperature too cold. A few degrees difference to the warmer outside temperature is enough for a pleasant indoor climate in summer.
How does a split air conditioner work?
Every split air conditioner consists of an outdoor unit and at least one indoor unit. The outdoor unit is always outside the apartment or house. Depending on the requirements and the number of rooms to be air-conditioned, there are two variants of how you can use your M-Series system: as a so-called single-split variant for one room or as a multi-split variant for several or particularly large rooms.
